CT Tag: Darkness Falls

Good Evening All! Tonight i am here to share my latest design
featuring the art of Chasity IJames and FWTags Creations's Kit called Darkness Falls.

Now to be honest I struggle with this genre of designs, Gothic/Dark.
But i found that this kit had a little bit of everything in it, so it was not all that dark.

In the end i designed a new Timeline which came out awesome if i do say so myself...lol.

Here is what i made using this tube and kit:

An Interview with September Artist of the Month: Heather Valentin

 An Interview
with
September Artist of the Month

Heather Valentin

Good morning Heather it is such an honor to be able to talk with you today.  I have admired your art work for a while now as I am sure many have.
Would you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Where are you from?
I  was  born in Michigan. Moved to  Arizona when I was two.
Resided in the  Valley of the Sun for over  18 years and then  lived in numerous  states   since then, including  and limited to Oregon and  one of my faves, Louisiana.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona.

 What was your childhood like?
Structured  and  isolated  with  very   few  friends.  Music, drawing and painting  were pretty much  my  escape.

Why did you decide to become an artist?
Since photographing dead  bodies  at  crime scenes didn't  do it  for me, I went back to my minor  which  was art.

Who do you credit with supporting you in your decision to become an artist?
My dad, my  dad who is  an  artist himself.

What other artists have been inspirational to you in your work?
Van Gogh, Dali,  Chagall,  Jasmine  Beckett- Griffith, and author, the one  and only  Stephen King.

What was your first piece of art?
An  oil  painting  of  a horse's head,  and no it  wasn't  chopped off and   full of  blood  and  guts, lol.

Do you have any rituals you do when you sit down to work on a piece?
Well to  draw,  I  need to  watch  horror movies. The  creepier  the better.  To paint,  I  grab my ipod and  earbuds, and  I flip thru  my  extensive list of  songs   until  I  find that one  song   that speaks to me tight then and there.  Then I put it on repeat  and that is  the only  song  i will   listen  to  for that  piece.  My  extensive music list is  anything  from  classical to  Cher, Enrique to One  Republic to  Meatloaf to Gaga to Shakira. One  Republic's  Secrets is   one of  my   faves to  go too.

How do you know that a piece is complete? When I know in my  gut  I  can't   add  anything more to it.
I  walk   away  for  a  day   and  come back and  I know  it’s  done.

What is your favorite piece and why?
A  painting I   created  for  the International  Year  of the  Reef  that  I  was  commissioned to  do.  It  was  created  to   raise  awareness for worldwide  reef  conservation,  and  holds  a  special place in my   heart.

Are you working on anything at the moment?
A  few  things  at  a  moment. On my  easel I  am  embracing my   darkside   with a mixed media  sea witch painting. And on my  art desk tons of  Rory  Sweet Urchins and other Lacy Sunshine characters, which is  my  soft and  fuzzy side.

Do you feel that your style has changed?
Oh most  definitely. As  an  artist, one  just  grows  depending on  life  experiences and surroundings.

What are you trying to communicate with your art?
Depends on the  piece. My more  serious pieces provoking  thoughts, even  though  they  might be   scary and twisted  at times. With  my Lacy Sunshine Art it’s  all about  Sunshine and  making people smile.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?
That I  am  very  shy.

What advice would you give someone wanting to enter into the world of art?
Be  true  to yourself and  don't be  afraid  to  stretch your imagination.  Always  take the time to  copyright your  work.

How can our audience find your work and are any of it available for purchase?
My sunshiny  art  can  be  found  at  www.lacysunshine.weebly.com.  This  art  along  with my  other  pieces   can be   found   in  various galleries,  online  shops and  via  Facebook/social  media. Also   don't  forget my  tubes  for siggies etc.  can be  found here  at  Artistic Dreams Imaging.

Is there anything or anyone else you would like to mention in closing?
My  father,  he's  always  been  my  teacher  and support.  One of the most important  things I have learned  from  him,  is  all about  the eyes in  a painting. Capture  the  spirit in the  eyes,  the  windows of their soul,  and  that is  all that matters. That   is what  will engage   the  viewer.
